About Us

Families Advocating Autism Now (FAAN) was founded in 2009 by seven mothers of children diagnosed with autism.  In 2019, we changed our name to Humboldt Autism Alliance in order to better reach out to the community and reflect our organization's mission.  Over the years, our Board of Directors has worked to create opportunities for individuals with autism and their families, and to provide access to activities and therapies that might otherwise be financially or socially inaccessible.  We are continually working to create new programs and host events that support awareness and acceptance and bring families together.  Our Board of Directors is currently served by five local parents wishing to make a difference in our community.   We provide grants for Equine Assisted Therapy, Aquatics, Autism Awareness Book Donations, and Education Grants for teachers.  We also host monthly Motion Picture Sensory Screenings, Open Gym, Open Swim and Discovery Museum events,  and a Parent/Caregiver Support Group.  We are always working to create new programs and host events to help spread autism awareness and bring families together.
