Humboldt Autism Alliance is proud to offer Aquatics Grants to our local community.
The Aquatics grant is available to individuals who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and who reside in Humboldt County. Aquatic lessons are provided by Vector Rehabilitation in Eureka and Arcata Community Pool in Arcata.
Drowning is among the leading causes of death for individuals with autism. Exposing individuals with autism to aquatic lessons can increase their familiarity with water, their swimming skills and their understanding of safety hazards around water.
One-on-one aquatics lessons can help individuals with autism to improve their attention span, concentration, impulse control, frustration tolerance and ability to follow instructions.
Grants will be awarded quarterly with preference given to those on our waiting list. Additional grants will be awarded by random draw to those who complete the application/renewal request by the deadline. Applicants who are not awarded a grant for the upcoming quarter will be placed on the waiting list and given preference for the next quarter.
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
